About Storyworks Magazine
For almost 15 years, I have been the editor of an amazing magazine called Storyworks, which is published by Scholastic and read by more than 400,000 kids in their 3rd, 4th, and 5th, grade classrooms. It includes incredibly thrilling nonfiction, fiction by many amazing authors (and often my friends!), plays, poems, and activities. PLUS, we have a website that is packed with activity sheets, videos, and quizzes so that all the amazing content is easy to teach with.

Out of the Tornado
Last Spring, three I Survived readers, Dayna, Lyric, and Shelby, invited me to come to their town, which was destroyed by a tornado. Click here to read the story I wrote after that visit.
Surviving the Tsunami
The story of how a group of Japanese kids helped save the lives of hundreds of other kids when a massive earthquake and tsunami hit their school in February, 2011. The work I did on this story is helping me write I Survived 8, about the Japanese tsunami.
